Key Features

  • Integrated 400 mAh lithium-polymer battery
  • Designed for M5Camera, M5Camera_X, and M5Camera_F
  • Compact portable-power base for short untethered operation
  • 48 × 24 mm footprint aligned with compatible camera boards
  • Uses the supported charging path of the connected camera

The M5Stack M5Camera 400mAh Battery Base adds compact portable power to compatible M5Camera, M5Camera_X, and M5Camera_F boards. It is useful for short untethered camera demonstrations, classroom projects, temporary image capture, and installations where a USB cable would restrict placement or movement. The dedicated base avoids designing a separate battery board, while actual runtime remains dependent on Wi-Fi activity, image frequency, firmware behavior, LEDs, temperature, battery condition, and the complete connected load.

What You Can Build

  • Portable M5Camera demonstrations without a continuously attached USB cable.
  • Temporary image-capture and time-lapse experiments.
  • Untethered classroom, exhibit, and proof-of-concept camera projects.
  • Short-duration Wi-Fi camera nodes for placement testing.
  • Replacement or maintenance builds for compatible legacy M5Camera boards.

Key Capabilities

  • Integrated 400 mAh lithium-polymer battery.
  • Dedicated mechanical format for M5Camera, M5Camera_X, and M5Camera_F.
  • Compact 48 × 24 mm footprint for portable camera assemblies.
  • Supports short battery-powered demonstrations and temporary operation.
  • Uses the supported charging path of the connected compatible camera.

Setup and Use

  1. Confirm that the camera is M5Camera, M5Camera_X, or M5Camera_F; this base is not compatible with TimerCAM.
  2. Power the camera off and align the battery base carefully before connection.
  3. Charge only through the interface and method supported by the connected camera, with the first charge supervised.
  4. Test runtime using the final Wi-Fi settings, image interval, LEDs, and firmware before closing the enclosure.

Example Workflow

  1. Fully charge the battery through the compatible camera charging path.
  2. Boot the camera and verify stable startup and network operation.
  3. Run the intended capture interval or streaming workload while logging usable runtime.
  4. Shut the system down before deep discharge and recharge it before the next deployment.

Deployment Notes

  • The 400 mAh capacity is intended for limited portable operation, not long-term unattended power.
  • Wi-Fi transmission, high image rates, continuous streaming, LEDs, and cold temperatures reduce runtime.
  • Do not puncture, crush, short, bend, or expose the battery to excessive heat.
  • Stop using the battery if it becomes swollen, damaged, leaking, or unusually hot.
  • For storage, avoid leaving the pack fully depleted and inspect it before reuse.
