Key Features

  • Omnidirectional electret microphone
  • MAX4466 microphone preamplifier
  • LM393 threshold comparator
  • Analog waveform and digital trigger outputs
  • Adjustable threshold with 10 kΩ potentiometer

The M5Stack MIC Unit gives sound-reactive projects both an amplified analog waveform and an adjustable digital trigger. An omnidirectional electret microphone feeds a MAX4466 preamplifier, while an LM393 comparator and onboard 10 kΩ potentiometer set the event threshold. It suits sound-activated switches, interactive installations, machine-noise experiments, and audio-level prototypes where the host needs continuous signal information plus a fast threshold indication.

Capture Sound with the M5Stack MIC Unit

Read an Amplified Analog Waveform

The MAX4466 preamplifier provides an analog signal that can be sampled for level, envelope, or frequency-related experiments.

Use an Adjustable Digital Sound Trigger

The LM393 comparator produces a digital event when the microphone signal crosses the threshold selected by the potentiometer.

Tune the Sensor for the Installed Environment

Set the threshold after final enclosure installation because openings, airflow, vibration, and background sound change the response.

What You Can Build with M5Stack MIC Unit

  • Sound-activated switches
  • Interactive sound installations
  • Machine-noise event detection
  • Audio level and envelope experiments
  • Clap and impact detection prototypes

Integration and Workflow

  1. Connect the Grove cable to host pins that support one analog input and one digital input.
  2. Keep the microphone opening clear of enclosure walls, airflow, and direct structural vibration.
  3. Adjust the potentiometer while observing the digital output under normal background and target sounds.
  4. Sample the analog channel, apply filtering or envelope detection, and confirm digital events before taking action.

Deployment Notes

  • The digital threshold changes with potentiometer position, supply noise, and ambient sound.
  • The analog output is not a calibrated sound-pressure-level value without reference calibration.
  • Enclosure acoustics, airflow, and mechanical vibration strongly affect the result.
  • Audio capture and sound monitoring can be subject to privacy and consent requirements.

How can I confirm product compatibility?

Check the product specifications, operating voltage, communication interface, dimensions, connector type, and software requirements before ordering. Compatibility may also depend on your controller, operating system, development framework, library version, and project wiring.

If you are unsure, contact us before purchasing and include your controller model, intended application, power source, and any other hardware you plan to use. We will help you identify the most suitable option, but we cannot guarantee that every product will work with every platform or project.

Does the product come with a warranty?

Warranty coverage may vary by product and manufacturer. If your order arrives damaged, incomplete, or appears to have a manufacturing defect, contact us as soon as possible with your order number, product model, and clear photos or videos of the issue.

Our team will review the information and provide the appropriate next step according to the applicable product and after-sales policy. Damage caused by incorrect wiring, unsuitable voltage, unauthorized modification, soldering, misuse, or operation outside the documented specifications may not be covered.

How long does shipping take?

LogicBoundless provides worldwide shipping, with primary service coverage across the United States, Europe, and Asia. Orders are generally fulfilled from Shenzhen, China, and tracking information is provided after dispatch.

Processing and delivery times depend on product availability, destination, customs clearance, and the selected shipping service. Please review the Shipping Information page for the latest estimated delivery times and shipping conditions.

What is your return policy?

Eligible products may be returned within 30 days of delivery. Returned items must be unused, unsoldered, unmodified, and kept in their original condition with all packaging, cables, accessories, manuals, and included components.

Please contact support@logicboundless.com before sending anything back. Returns made without prior approval may not be accepted. Original shipping charges are generally non-refundable unless the return is caused by a verified product defect or fulfillment error.

Can you help if I have a technical problem?

Yes. LogicBoundless provides practical technical guidance for product setup, wiring, power, communication, code, and configuration issues.

To help us understand the problem efficiently, please provide your controller model, wiring photos, power source, code, library or firmware versions, expected behavior, and complete error messages. We cannot promise that every component will work in every system, but we will help you identify the likely cause and the next practical troubleshooting step.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Contact us as soon as possible if you need to change or cancel an order. We will try to assist before the order enters processing or is handed to the shipping carrier.

Once an order has been packed or dispatched, it may no longer be possible to change the products, delivery address, or shipping method. In that case, the standard return process may apply after delivery.
