M5Stack RS485 Roller485 Lite for Closed-Loop BLDC Motion

M5Stack RS485 motion projects can use Roller485 Lite as a compact integrated actuator rather than combining a separate motor, driver, encoder, controller, and status display. The unit integrates a D3504 200KV brushless motor, DRV8311 driver, TLI5012BE1000 magnetic angle sensor, and STM32G431 controller with a built-in FOC closed-loop drive system.

Current, speed, and position control loops are available through encoder feedback. The specified maximum continuous phase current is 0.5A without forced cooling, with up to 1A for short periods. Power can be supplied at 6–16V through the PWR485 interface or at 5V through Grove. Keep the supply at or below 16V and validate current, thermal behavior, mechanical load, and acceleration under the real mechanism.

Control Distributed Motion Through RS485 or I2C

The PWR485 connection supports a practical m5stack rs485 architecture for distributed motion nodes, while I2C control is available at address 0x64 for direct integration with a local host. RS485 is useful when motion units are separated across a machine or installation and a differential bus is preferred. I2C is convenient for short local connections inside a compact assembly.

FOC Control with Magnetic Encoder Feedback

The STM32G431CBU6 provides a 170MHz Cortex-M4 control platform with 128KB Flash and 32KB SRAM. Magnetic encoder feedback supports closed-loop regulation instead of open-loop timing. This helps when a mechanism needs repeatable speed or position behavior under changing load, but final accuracy still depends on mechanical installation, calibration, stiffness, backlash, and the complete control profile.

OLED Status, RGB Indicators, and Debug Access

A 0.66-inch OLED shows local status, while two WS2812-2020 RGB LEDs and function controls support visual feedback and interaction. SWD and SWO interfaces are available for firmware-level debugging. The Lite housing is lower than the full Roller485 version and is designed without the slip-ring expansion path.

Roller485 Lite vs Roller485

Feature Roller485 Lite Roller485
Communication RS485 / I2C RS485 / I2C
Slip Ring No Yes
Top Grove Expansion Through Rotation No Yes
Top LEGO Expansion Interface No Yes
Product Size 40 × 40 × 30mm 40 × 40 × 40mm

Choose Roller485 Lite when the mechanism does not need a rotating electrical pass-through and lower height is useful. Choose Roller485 when continuous rotation must keep a top Grove expansion path connected through the slip ring.

Technical setup details are available in the M5Stack Roller485 Lite documentation.

How can I confirm product compatibility?

Check the product specifications, operating voltage, communication interface, dimensions, connector type, and software requirements before ordering. Compatibility may also depend on your controller, operating system, development framework, library version, and project wiring.

If you are unsure, contact us before purchasing and include your controller model, intended application, power source, and any other hardware you plan to use. We will help you identify the most suitable option, but we cannot guarantee that every product will work with every platform or project.

Does the product come with a warranty?

Warranty coverage may vary by product and manufacturer. If your order arrives damaged, incomplete, or appears to have a manufacturing defect, contact us as soon as possible with your order number, product model, and clear photos or videos of the issue.

Our team will review the information and provide the appropriate next step according to the applicable product and after-sales policy. Damage caused by incorrect wiring, unsuitable voltage, unauthorized modification, soldering, misuse, or operation outside the documented specifications may not be covered.

How long does shipping take?

LogicBoundless provides worldwide shipping, with primary service coverage across the United States, Europe, and Asia. Orders are generally fulfilled from Shenzhen, China, and tracking information is provided after dispatch.

Processing and delivery times depend on product availability, destination, customs clearance, and the selected shipping service. Please review the Shipping Information page for the latest estimated delivery times and shipping conditions.

What is your return policy?

Eligible products may be returned within 30 days of delivery. Returned items must be unused, unsoldered, unmodified, and kept in their original condition with all packaging, cables, accessories, manuals, and included components.

Please contact support@logicboundless.com before sending anything back. Returns made without prior approval may not be accepted. Original shipping charges are generally non-refundable unless the return is caused by a verified product defect or fulfillment error.

Can you help if I have a technical problem?

Yes. LogicBoundless provides practical technical guidance for product setup, wiring, power, communication, code, and configuration issues.

To help us understand the problem efficiently, please provide your controller model, wiring photos, power source, code, library or firmware versions, expected behavior, and complete error messages. We cannot promise that every component will work in every system, but we will help you identify the likely cause and the next practical troubleshooting step.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Contact us as soon as possible if you need to change or cancel an order. We will try to assist before the order enters processing or is handed to the shipping carrier.

Once an order has been packed or dispatched, it may no longer be possible to change the products, delivery address, or shipping method. In that case, the standard return process may apply after delivery.
