Key Features

  • HX711 24-bit load-cell amplifier and ADC
  • Channel A gain of 64× or 128×
  • Approximate full-scale input of ±40 mV or ±20 mV
  • Clock and data interface through Grove
  • Reference output rate of 10 samples per second

The M5Stack Weight Unit converts the small differential output of an external strain-gauge load cell into digital data for miniature scales, force measurements, parts counting, dispensing systems, and education projects. Its HX711 low-noise 24-bit ADC uses Channel A with selectable gain of 64× or 128× and a reference output rate of 10 samples per second. Accurate weighing depends on load-cell selection, mechanical mounting, correct wiring, calibration, temperature control, filtering, and overload protection.

Weight Unit: Core Functions and Control

Digitize Bridge Signals with the HX711

The HX711 combines a low-noise programmable-gain front end and 24-bit converter for the millivolt signal produced by a strain-gauge bridge.

Select 64× or 128× Gain on Channel A

The two gain settings provide approximate full-scale differential ranges of ±40 mV and ±20 mV respectively.

Calibrate Zero and Scale with Known Weights

Firmware must store an unloaded offset and calculate a scale factor after the load cell and mechanical platform are installed.

Weight Unit Applications

  • Compact kitchen and ingredient scales
  • Parts counting and inventory bins
  • Force and compression measurement
  • Material dispensing and filling systems
  • Load-cell education projects

How to Integrate the Weight Unit

  1. Select a load cell with suitable capacity, sensitivity, geometry, and overload margin.
  2. With power removed, connect excitation and signal wires according to the load-cell datasheet.
  3. Mount the load cell without side loading, binding, or enclosure contact.
  4. Record the unloaded offset and calibrate with known masses across the working range.
  5. Apply stability detection, averaging, drift checks, and overload handling.

Weight Unit Deployment Notes

  • A load cell is not included.
  • 24-bit converter resolution does not equal guaranteed system accuracy.
  • Changing the platform, mounting, cable, or load cell can invalidate calibration.
  • Shock loading and overload can permanently shift or damage the sensor.
  • This unit is not a certified legal-for-trade or medical weighing instrument.

How can I confirm product compatibility?

Check the product specifications, operating voltage, communication interface, dimensions, connector type, and software requirements before ordering. Compatibility may also depend on your controller, operating system, development framework, library version, and project wiring.

If you are unsure, contact us before purchasing and include your controller model, intended application, power source, and any other hardware you plan to use. We will help you identify the most suitable option, but we cannot guarantee that every product will work with every platform or project.

Does the product come with a warranty?

Warranty coverage may vary by product and manufacturer. If your order arrives damaged, incomplete, or appears to have a manufacturing defect, contact us as soon as possible with your order number, product model, and clear photos or videos of the issue.

Our team will review the information and provide the appropriate next step according to the applicable product and after-sales policy. Damage caused by incorrect wiring, unsuitable voltage, unauthorized modification, soldering, misuse, or operation outside the documented specifications may not be covered.

How long does shipping take?

LogicBoundless provides worldwide shipping, with primary service coverage across the United States, Europe, and Asia. Orders are generally fulfilled from Shenzhen, China, and tracking information is provided after dispatch.

Processing and delivery times depend on product availability, destination, customs clearance, and the selected shipping service. Please review the Shipping Information page for the latest estimated delivery times and shipping conditions.

What is your return policy?

Eligible products may be returned within 30 days of delivery. Returned items must be unused, unsoldered, unmodified, and kept in their original condition with all packaging, cables, accessories, manuals, and included components.

Please contact support@logicboundless.com before sending anything back. Returns made without prior approval may not be accepted. Original shipping charges are generally non-refundable unless the return is caused by a verified product defect or fulfillment error.

Can you help if I have a technical problem?

Yes. LogicBoundless provides practical technical guidance for product setup, wiring, power, communication, code, and configuration issues.

To help us understand the problem efficiently, please provide your controller model, wiring photos, power source, code, library or firmware versions, expected behavior, and complete error messages. We cannot promise that every component will work in every system, but we will help you identify the likely cause and the next practical troubleshooting step.

Can I change or cancel my order?

Contact us as soon as possible if you need to change or cancel an order. We will try to assist before the order enters processing or is handed to the shipping carrier.

Once an order has been packed or dispatched, it may no longer be possible to change the products, delivery address, or shipping method. In that case, the standard return process may apply after delivery.
